This issuemarks the30thyearof
AirbrushVenturi
In the6years sincewebegan
writing thismagazine, the
media landscapehas changed
considerably.The roleof
periodicals likeAirvolution,
whetherprintedordigital,
have felt thesechanges.The
exponential riseof facebook, and
others like instagram, hasmeant
that everyairbrushartist cangain
worldwideexposureandcontrol
how theirwork ispresented, and
allwithan immediacy thatno
otherprocess canoffer.Theneed
for amagazine likeAirvolution
hasdiminished in this capacity.
Havingwritten this, roughly
3500pages later, themagazine
has compiledaconsiderable
historical recordof thecreativity
anddiversityof airbrushing
acrossAustraliaandNew
Zealand.Todaywe recognise
that theairbrushcommunity
ofAustraliaandNewZealand
is thriving.Wehaveenjoyed
telling the storyof airbrushing
across these twocountries.This is
something that Facebookor the
like,wouldneverhaveandnever
will, accomplished.
Sowhatdoes the futurehold for
magazines likeAirvolution.

Wewill continuewriting
Airvolution, butwehave
decided to shift the focusof the
magazine tomoreon thehistory
of airbrushing. In thecoming
issueswewill bewritingabout
theuseof theairbrush in the
Bauhausmovement, about the
useof theairbrush for the1933
ChicagoWorldFair, about the
useof theairbrushbyFuturist art
movement, about the fantasyart
movement, andmore.

airbrushcommunity.The informal
competitionwill continue.The
interviewswill beaxed; but this
isnotour choice.The teachers
feel that the interviewsarenot
beneficial. Sobe it.
Change is important.The
magazinehas constantly
changed, aswe triedvarious
ideas, and this seriesof changes
represents thenext step in the
airvolutionof themagazine.
This issuemarks theendof the
maindevelopmentof theVenturi
System. After 14yearsofwriting
and30yearsof R&D, thequestion
“what isairbrushing”hasbeen
completelydeconstructedand
quantified.
Theprocessof R&Dwill still
continue.Theprocesswill look
at“How” it shouldbe taught to
ensure that eachperson learns
according to theirpreferred
learning style.Theprocessof
R&Dwillmove intodeveloping
agenuinedepth toall the
advancedcourses, incorporating
all the recentdevelopments in
textureandcolour, andmore.
Companies likeAirbrushSupply
Network, PPGandViponds
continue todoextensiveR&D
intoproducts specifically for
theairbrushandpinstripingart
forms.We look forward towriting
about all their efforts.
Inotherwords,wehavea lot to
writeabout in thecomingyears.
Inclosing, Iwould like topublicly
